How to Read This Wingdings Chart

Standard keyboard keys use ASCII decimal codes ranging from 32 (Space) to 126 (Tilde ~). In the original Microsoft Wingdings font (1990), typing one of these keys rendered a graphic symbol instead of a letter.

When modern web standards and Unicode 7.0 were established, these legacy dingbat pictograms were assigned official Unicode Codepoints (such as U+270C for the peace sign or U+2709 for an envelope). Copying the Unicode character from this chart allows you to paste the symbol across all modern websites, smartphones, and text editors without requiring the recipient to have the Wingdings font installed.
